Present Day
The blacktop driveway to the garage was newly sealed in the summer of 2006. Also in 2006, the drive from the blacktop to the house was resurfaced with red slate chips which compliment the exterior of the house very nicely. The steel roof was painted and is covered with a rubber coating which is both insulating and noise-reducing. The rear deck has been completely rebuilt recently and sports a pair of new gliding chairs. The wood siding was restained and the glass bricks were resealed in summer 2006. There is a detached shed for tools behind the porch and the heated 2-car garage has a workbench and hoist.

The slate double-sided fireplace is able to heat the entire home for the duration of a cold winter. Made of double tile stock, it opens to the bedroom and great room, with slate floor tiling all around. The south-facing Anderson floor-to-glass brick windows yield such good passive solar heat that the house heat can be turned off at times in the winter. Interior walls are paneled in black walnut. The 13-foot cathedral ceiling in the great room has 2 dropped ceilings for insulation and wall-to-wall carpet. It opens to the dining area and kitchen. Exterior doors are steel-core / frames and open and close like new.

All west closets have slate tile flooring and sliding wood doors. Kitchen has custom birch cabinets, a built-in self-cleaning oven, ceramic stovetop, and a brand new Kenmore Elite microwave. The stainless steel sink has new fixtures which compliment the decor. The kitchen curtains, bedroom curtains and bedroom laminate flooring are also brand new. The bath has a new sink, vanity, toilet and shower fixtures; and a sunken Kohler tub. The NuTone central vacuum system is new and has a hose long enough to reach every corner of the house.

A new burglar alarm system is installed and operating and is monitored by a professional security company which is alerted in the event of a break-in, fire or other emergency which may trip the alarm.
